My name is Michelle Garza. My family and I were members from 2006 to 2015 then moved to Missouri to be with my father. We moved back to San Antonio in April of 2021 and resumed our Church life back at St. Andrew’s. My husband Mark and I have been married for just about 20 years, and we have a 17-year-old son Brayden. I have two daughters from my first marriage, Kirstyn an ICU Nurse, and Haley an Elementary Teacher. We have two wonderful granddaughters, and two amazing son-in-laws as well.
A little history on me. I was born a military brat of an Army and civil service lifer. We lived all over the States and Germany and my upbringing of service was in my DNA. My Grandfather was an Episcopal Priest, my mother civil service, my brother Army, my husband Army, and one way I serve is working for Cardinal Health, a Medical Product & Distribution company. I had my 37th anniversary of working at Cardinal Health this year, where I started at just 16 years old in the high school co-op program. I learned the company from the bottom up, starting off in operations and eventually moving to my current role in Hospital Sales. Being a Medical Distribution Sales Rep is certainly daunting in this supply chain climate, but I serve the hospitals in Central and South Texas the best I can to keep them in supplies.
Previously at St. Andrews I served on vestry, food pantry, and held a book club at my home on Sunday evenings. When we were in Missouri, I served on our Hospitality Committee. We fed the church and visitors for Sunday social hour, meetings, conferences, youth group and our college students during their meetings. I’ve always been a Youth Group Mom, helping however I could with meetings, projects, food, and VBS. I was also on their Search Committee when it was time to find a new Priest. I learned so much during that process and felt privileged to help find the Priest that grew with our Missouri Church family.
I now serve at St. Andrew’s as the Senior Warden. Serving the Church has always given me the connection I need to my faith and my Church family. Mark provides the music for our Rite III service and does much of the volunteer repair work for the Church. Thanks to my upbringing, service is part of my nature. Serving here at St. Andrew’s brings me joy, and I encourage you to serve in any way you can.
